Rohrbaugh Residence

This past week my interior design class and I went on our first-ever, real life site visit! We all met at the new house of Mr. and Mrs. Rohrbaugh, a beautiful, traditionally styled home located in Greensboro, NC. On our site visit, we were able to interview with Suzanne Rohrbaugh about her expectations and visions of her new home. This allowed us students to get an idea of the style and features she wanted to see in our designs.

From the interview, I was able to observe that Suzanne is already in love with the house and its layout, however her most prominent desire is to update the atmosphere into something more coherent with their family and lifestyle. Suzanne expressed her desire to change the color palette in the home to a more cool color scheme with blues, greys, and greens rather than the warm golds and browns the house has now. Additionally, Suzanne expressed her interest in the convenience of daily activities such as, where she and her husband would have dinner, or how they could make the best use of the balcony off of the master bedroom. Not only are Mr. and Mrs. Rohrbaugh considering the design of their home for themselves, but also for their children and grandchildren whom they would like to designate rooms and entertainment spaces to.

Overall, the site visit was very beneficial in initiating ideas for the design of the home and how to best represent the Rohrbaughs.
